Parish Weekend Away 2010

What? A weekend for people from our three churches to go away together for worship, teaching, relaxing and enjoying each other’s company.

When? Friday 4th June to Sunday 6th June 2010

Where? Hothorpe Hall in Leicestershire (an hour’s drive from Birmingham). The rooms are mostly twin with en-suite facilities.

Who? This is for anyone from our three churches, and we hope as many people as possible can come. Bishop Andrew, the Bishop of Aston, will be with us and leading our weekend.

How much will it cost? This depends on how many people go. It could be up to £125 per person, but may be quite a bit less if enough of us go. There are reductions for children, and subsidies will be available via the clergy to ensure people can go. For now, all we need is a deposit of £15 per person by 17th May 2009.

How do I book? Collect a booking form from your church and give it to one of the clergy with your deposit.

From time to time, our churches get involved with special events and activities. This section exists so that we can share our memories and experiences of these very special occasions.

Here are the dates of special events that are due to be taking place in the near future:

March

• Mothering Sunday is Sunday 14th March, with special morning services at each of our churches
• St James Advice Centre Annual General Meeting at St James on Friday 19th March at 5.30 pm
• Marriage Preparation Day for couples getting married in the next few months on Saturday 20th March from 10 am to 4 pm at Aston Parish Church Centre

April

• Maundy Thursday Passover Meal at St Matthew’s on Thursday 1st April at 7.00 pm
• Good Friday Walks of Witness in both Aston and Nechells on Friday 2nd April – Aston Walk starts at New Christchurch Baptish Church at 9.30 am and ends at Aston Parish Church at 11.15 am
• Easter Car Wash and Prayer Trail at Aston Parish Church on Saturday 3rd April from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm
• Easter Celebrations at all our churches on Sunday 4th April – 10.45 am at Aston Parish Church and 11.00 am at St James and St Matthew’s
• Congregation Annual Meetings for nominations of Church Wardens and PCC members, and Electing Church Committees on Sunday 18th April- 10.45 am at Aston Parish Church and 11.00 am at St James and St Matthew’s
• Parish Annual Meetings to elect Church Wardens and PCC members at St Matthew’s Church on Sunday 25th April at 6.30 pm

May

• Community Fun Day at Yew Tree School on Monday 3rd May
• Ascension Day communion service at Aston Parish Church with visitors from Hampton-in-Arden and Barston on Thursday 13th May at 8pm
• Pentecost Confirmation service with Bishop Maurice Sinclair at Aston Parish Church on * Sunday 23rd May* at 11.00 am
• Fundraising Abseil and Garden Party at Aston Parish Church on Saturday 29th May from 11 am
